Introduction
The month of August is our month of Dedication (1 Cor 10:31; Col 3:23). Dedication is important in the life of a Christian. God requires us to dedicate our lives to Him. When we dedicate our lives to God, it brings glory to Him and we fulfil destiny.
What is Dedication?
Dedication is the quality of being committed to or loyal to a person, task or purpose. From biblical perspective, dedication is an act of setting apart or consecrating persons or things to God.
Dedicate your life to God
God expects us to dedicate our lives to him by offering ourselves as living sacrifices.
Rom 12: 1-2- I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)
As a child of God, we are called to dedicate everything in our lives to God.
1 Cor 10: 31-So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (NIV)
Col 3:23 -Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, (NIV)
A life without dedication is a life without celebration. We celebrate what we are dedicated to. A life dedicated to God is truly a life of celebration. I challenge you to be dedicated to God and celebrate what God has done; what God is doing and What God will do in your life.
The exhortation this morning is that you should dedicate your life to God. If you dedicate your life to God, He will use you for his glory.
Rom 6: 13 – Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. (NIV)
- To Whom should we dedicate our lives: You can either dedicate your life to God/righteousness or to Satan/Sin.
Rom 6:13
Exhorts us not to offer ourselves to sin but to God and righteousness.
- The Dedicated Life: A dedicated life is:
- A life given to Jesus: Matt 10: 39-Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. (NIV)
- A life dead to sin Rom 6: 10-12
- A life dedicated to God Gal 2: 20
- How can we dedicate our lives:
- Give your life to Jesus
- Consecrate yourself or set yourself apart
- Yield to the Holy Spirit
- Be guided and protected by the grace of God.

Challenge
Have you given your life to Jesus? Are you dead to sin? Have you dedicated your life to God?
Conclusion
If a man dedicates his life to God, he/she will no longer be ruled by sin. When every part of our body is dedicated to God, we will no longer do things that are not pleasing to God.
