Topic: Power of Resurrection for Progress

Preacher: Pastor (Dr) Otive Igbuzor

Text:  Matt 28: 1-8                                                             Date: 30/3/24

Introduction:

God created man. Man fell from grace. The birth, death & resurrection of Jesus was God’s plan for man’s reconciliation. Jesus told his disciples that he will die and rise up on the third day. But none expected Him to rise. But thank God for the women that went to the tomb on the third day. A stone was placed by the enemy to obstruct the resurrection. But God sent an angel to roll away the stone by the resurrection power. When the women got the tomb, Jesus had risen.

Matt 28: 1-8 -In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. (KJV)

Luke 24:5b –why do you look for the living among the dead?

Resurrection Power for Progress

As we celebrate Easter, we should be reminded of the incredible power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The power can bring progress and advancement in our lives.

Phil 3: 10-11-That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. (KJV)

  1. Transformation: The resurrection power can transform us, renew our minds, hearts and spirits to make progress in every area of our lives. Rom 6:4

Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

  1. Overcoming obstacles: The resurrection power can make us to overcome all obstacles that hinder our progress.

1 Cor 15: 57 –57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (KJV)

  1. Empowerment: The resurrection power can empower us to live a life of purpose and impact.  The resurrection power can empower you spiritually, economically, politically and socially.

Eph 1:19-20 –19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, (KJV)

Challenge

Are you born again? Have you experienced the transforming power of the resurrection power? Are you facing any obstacles? Are you willing and ready to appropriate the resurrection power to roll away every obstacle? Are you ready for spiritual, economic, political and social empowerment?

Conclusion

The resurrection power is in you (Phil 3:10). Do not go about crucifying Jesus again by going to witches, wizards, mediums and native doctors. By that you will be looking for the living among the death and crucifying Jesus again. By the resurrection power of Jesus, declare all obstacles in your life as stones and they will be rolled away.

The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us today. I exhort you to tap into the power for transformation, overcoming obstacles and empowerment to make progress in every area of life.
